On 6 August, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, affectionately known in Ukrainian tradition as the Apple Feast of the Saviour, the cosy square at the lower residence of Bukovel Hotel was transformed into an elegant open-air concert venue. Resort guests gathered for a memorable evening of chamber music performed by the talented Ladies QC string quartet.
Four accomplished musicians – Nataliia Fihol (viola), Halyna Orlova (cello), Svitlana Kmytiuk and Nataliia Siusko (violins) – brought masterpieces of world and Ukrainian classical music to the heart of the Carpathians. With no electronic amplification, the pure sound of their instruments blended naturally with the surroundings as melodies by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, George Frideric Handel and Astor Piazzolla filled the evening air. Timeless works by Myroslav Skoryk, Volodymyr Ivasiuk and Anatolii Kos-Anatolskyi added a particularly moving Ukrainian note to the programme.
It was an evening shaped by music, beauty and a sense of complete relaxation – one that will stay with Bukovel guests through memories of the warm evening light, the aroma of fresh coffee, a glass of fine wine and, above all, the timeless sound of Music.
We are very grateful to Felicita pizzeria for its support. As the weather took an unfavourable turn that evening, the restaurant provided the perfect setting for the concert on its summer terrace, allowing the musical programme to go ahead in comfort. Felicita also treated the musicians to a delicious meal.
And more events in Bukovel are already on the way. The next one takes place on 22 August at 13:00, when a major concert celebrating the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence will be held near the Ferris wheel. The line-up includes well-known Ukrainian artists Natalia Mohylevska, LAUD and Olena Topolia. Admission is free.
