Today, we're heading to another remarkable summit in the Gorgany – Mt. Syniak. One of the most scenic peaks of the Eastern Gorgany, it rewards hikers with sweeping views across the Carpathians, the Chornohora Range, and Bukovel.
One way to reach the summit is via the "Panoramic" waymarked trail, which starts directly from Bukovel. This moderately challenging route takes you through the picturesque Tomnatyk mountain meadow, along forest paths, and eventually across the vast stone fields that give the Gorgany their unmistakable character. The entire trek covers around 14 km, with an elevation gain of 576 metres.
What makes Syniak special?
- At 1,665 metres above sea level, Syniak rises prominently above the surrounding landscape.
- Its name comes from the distinctive bluish hue of its rocky slopes, which can be seen from afar.
- The mountain lies within the Carpathian National Nature Park and is one of the Gorgany's best-known peaks.
- Above 1,000 metres, dense forests gradually open into subalpine meadows. Closer to the summit, the landscape changes dramatically as enormous stone fields take over – one of the defining features of the Gorgany.
