Recreation is among the main features of Artek-Bukovel. Impressive results are achieved due the unique natural/climatic characteristics of the region, active leisure courses and the latest achievements in medical science. Mountain air has 2-3 times higher oxygen ionization level, if compared to sea air (and 8-10 higher than urban areas). It improves one's general health state, reduces fatigue, alteres activity of the respiratory apparatus, provides a considerable effect in the therapy of bronchial asthma, hypertensive diseases, atherosclerosis and tuberculosis.
The climate of the Carpathians varies substantially from urban areas or seaside resorts: less solar radiation due to significant tree cover; huge part of radiation is absorbed by woods and only 4-12% reaches soil.
