Bukovel takes another confident step toward sustainability with the launch of its first waste sorting pilot program.
The resort began its journey toward international sustainability standards back in 2024, committing to responsible tourism and environmental care. Waste management is one of the key pillars of that vision – helping to cut greenhouse gas emissions, ease pressure on landfills, and boost recycling efficiency.
For Bukovel, it’s not just about ecology – it’s about leadership. Around the world, travelers increasingly choose “green destinations” that care for both comfort and the planet.
Bukovel Sorts: A new eco initiative
Under the environmental program “Bukovel Sorts”, the resort is introducing a clear and convenient waste sorting system.
Across the resort, visitors can now find specially marked containers divided into three categories:
- Glass;
- Paper;
- Plastic.
Each is easy to identify, helping both guests and staff develop eco-friendly habits and contribute to a cleaner environment.
From concept to action
The project began with the design and production of the sorting bins, created in partnership with Metal Structures LLC, which handled the technical development.
Next came the logistics phase – finding a reliable recycling partner. Bukovel teamed up with Alfa-Recycling, a company specializing in the collection and processing of plastic, glass, and paper. It now manages all transportation and recycling processes.
Why it matters
Waste sorting is much more than colorful containers – it’s part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy that focuses on:
- environmental education for guests and staff,
- responsible resource use,
- innovation in eco-tourism,
- and setting a new standard for sustainable hospitality in Ukraine.
Bukovel proves that tourism and environmental protection can – and must – go hand in hand. The resort not only responds to global challenges but also shapes the future of responsible travel in the Carpathians.
Guests can also find detailed sorting guidelines across the resort. Remember: single-use plastic dishes, receipts, cigarette butts, mirrors, and light bulbs cannot be recycled.
Since June, a battery and power bank collection point has been operating in the Central Information Center, giving guests an easy way to dispose of used items responsibly.
Bukovel thanks everyone who supports sustainable change – together, we’re building a cleaner, greener future.
