Save the bees – save our future

On July 10, the world observes Don’t Step On A Bee Day – a symbolic but meaningful occasion dedicated to protecting one of nature’s key contributors.

At Bukovel, we support this initiative as part of our broader sustainability mission.

Although its name may sound lighthearted, this day raises awareness of a serious issue. Bees are critical to maintaining healthy ecosystems and food supplies. As pollinators, they ensure the reproduction of around 80% of flowering plants. A world without bees would face severe ecological and agricultural consequences.

Why are bees at risk?

  • Excessive use of pesticides and chemicals
  • Loss of natural habitats
  • Climate change and environmental stress
  • Spread of diseases and parasites

What actions can you take?

  • Grow pollinator-friendly plants and avoid using pesticides in your garden.
  • Buy honey and products from local beekeepers to support sustainable beekeeping.
  • Help wild bees by leaving some areas of your yard undisturbed for nesting.
  • Share knowledge about bees’ importance and inspire others to protect them.
  • Remember the day’s message – watch your step outdoors, especially in flowering areas where bees gather nectar.

Don’t Step On A Bee Day is not just a slogan. It’s a call to action to preserve biodiversity and maintain a healthy environment for future generations.

At Bukovel, we actively promote environmental education and conservation. Follow our ongoing series on the unique species of our region – from the fish of Lake of Youth to the rare Carpathian newt. Together, we can make a difference.
