At Bukovel, sustainable infrastructure solutions are becoming an integral part of the resort’s development. With an annual footfall of around 3 million tourists, there’s a growing need to keep the resort tidy and environmentally responsible – all while preserving the natural beauty of the Carpathians.
Eco-friendly parking is one such initiative that combines convenience for visitors with care for the environment. These “green” parking zones, commonly found in modern urban developments (such as residential complexes in Kyiv), have now made their way to Bukovel.
A newly introduced green parking area near the resort promenade now accommodates up to 30 vehicles.
So, what exactly is a green parking zone?
It’s a specially designed parking area with permeable surfaces — either lawn grids or perforated slabs — that allow rainwater to seep into the ground. This prevents soil compaction and helps avoid puddles, preserving the natural water cycle.
Among the key advantages of eco-parking:
- Protection of the natural water balance
- Reduced dust and surface overheating
- A natural, aesthetic look that blends into the Carpathian landscape
- Durability and easy maintenance
Bukovel recently launched 5 new rental shops for bikes and e-scooters. In total, nearly 30 km of cycling trails are now available across the resort.
