Summer in Bukovel: 5 secrets worth knowing

June is here, and with it comes the start of another summer season in Bukovel. Mountain slopes are turning green, streams are sparkling once again, and the Carpathians are ready for a new season of exploration.

Most people know exactly what to do here in winter. Summer, however, opens up a completely different side of the resort – one filled with mountain hikes, lakeside relaxation, nature experiences and unforgettable views.

If you are looking for inspiration, the Bukovel Tour Centre has prepared a range of excursions that combine iconic attractions with lesser-known places waiting to be discovered. You can explore the full programme and book your adventure through the Tour Centre.

Mountains, viewpoints and a useful insider tip

The mountains surrounding Bukovel offer countless opportunities for exploration. Lift #2 takes visitors to the top of Mt. Bukovel, where sweeping views of the Chornohora ridge reveal iconic peaks such as Hoverla, Petros and Pip Ivan. It is the perfect place to relax on the grass, enjoy a break and take in the scenery.

Here's a tip many visitors are surprised to learn: while the ascent on the panoramic lifts requires a ticket, the descent is free. If you enjoy hiking, you can walk up to the summit and ride back down at no additional cost. Panoramic lift #2 operates daily from 9:00 to 19:00, with downhill access available until 19:30.

Another favourite destination is Lift #14. The summit offers breathtaking 360-degree views and access to scenic forest trails leading towards Babyn Pohar, Malyi Gorgan and Syniak. Whether you choose a short walk or a full-day adventure, the possibilities are endless.

For a quieter route, slope #5 to Mt. Dovha and the alpine meadow of the same name. Along the way, you may even have the chance to sample homemade cheese from local producers while enjoying panoramic views.

A forest escape few people know about

If you would rather immerse yourself in the forest than climb a mountain summit, Mt. Chorna Kleva is a hidden gem worth discovering.

Following the Bukovel Park route, you will walk through peaceful woodland where sunlight filters through the trees and creates an atmosphere that feels almost untouched. The mountain is not among the area's most popular destinations, which is precisely why it remains so special.

There is no summit marker or famous viewpoint attracting crowds. Instead, Chorna Kleva offers tranquillity, solitude and a genuine connection with nature.

Three great places to cool off

When temperatures rise, Bukovel offers several excellent places to enjoy the water.

The first is the Lake of Youth, one of the resort's iconic attractions. Swimming, relaxing by the shore and enjoying the scenery are completely free. Since the beach and lakebed are covered with pebbles, comfortable footwear is recommended. Sun loungers and bungalows are available for rent, while guests of Bukovel Hotel receive complimentary access to a sun lounger.

The second option is MAVKA aquapark. Alongside adrenaline-filled waterslides, visitors enjoy a spacious SPA area. In addition to full-day admission, shorter four-hour tickets are available. The evening ticket, valid from 20:00 to 22:00, is particularly popular. It offers enough time to experience the slides, wave pool, hammam and sauna while enjoying sunset views of the illuminated Ferris wheel.

Our third recommendation is the lake at STAV 14 wakepark. This quieter location features a dedicated swimming and sunbathing area that remains relatively undiscovered by visitors. With its green relaxation deck, pebble shoreline and nearby free parking, it is an ideal place to spend a peaceful summer afternoon.

Enjoy your summer in Bukovel – and discover a side of the Carpathians most visitors rarely see!
