What’s summer like in Bukovel?
It’s the perfect balance between adrenaline and relaxation. Picture yourself at Lake of Youth, where you’re wakeboarding in the morning and gliding on a SUP board in the afternoon. Imagine the sun warming the beach while you lounge in the shade, sipping a refreshing cold lemonade. And let’s not forget about hours spent basking on the MAVKA aquapark’s open terrace, followed by a scenic hike along Chornohora’s stunning trails.
But with all the fun comes the need for care – both for your body and your skin. While soaking up the warmth and generating vitamin D, it’s essential to remember that the sun also brings ultraviolet rays. Without proper protection, the risks extend beyond sunburns, pigmentation, and premature aging – they’re more insidious, often showing their effects only much later.
Bukovel × La Roche-Posay: enjoy your summer, protect your skin
La Roche-Posay, a leading dermocosmetic brand, is Bukovel’s official partner in skin health. Together, we’re here to remind you that true beauty lies in health, and the best summer look is the one that includes SPF.
"The harmful effects of UV rays go beyond just sunburn. Over time, the damage they cause to skin cells can lead to serious conditions like melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or basal cell carcinoma. The best way to prevent this is through daily sun protection and regular mole check-ups with a dermatologist. Making sunscreen a daily habit could save your life," explains Tetiana Boychuk, dermatologist, expert trichologist, and pediatric allergist.
Key tips you need to know:
- Choose an SPF of at least 30. For outdoor activities like hiking or swimming, or for sensitive skin, opt for SPF 50+.
- Always look for the UVA + UVB protection (broad-spectrum) label.
- Tailor your sunscreen to your skin type: for oily skin, go for fluids or gels; for dry skin, choose moisturizing creams; for sensitive skin, only mineral filters like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide will do.
- If you’re heading to the beach or into the mountains, make sure your sunscreen is waterproof (for 40/80 minutes).
- Avoid sunscreens with alcohol or fragrances, especially for children.
- For kids, only mineral-based filters with SPF 50+ are safe.
Daily prevention – a lifelong habit
Even on cloudy days, up to 80% of UV rays can penetrate through the clouds. And though the mountain breeze is cooling and the lake refreshing, those UV rays are still at work. So, make sunscreen part of your daily routine, especially when enjoying the higher altitudes.
In fact, every year, La Roche-Posay runs its global #SAVEYOURSKIN initiative, offering free mole check-ups across Ukraine to help prevent skin cancer. Most melanomas start from existing moles, which is why it’s crucial to get them checked regularly.
Join us at Lake Molodosti on July 26 and 27, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, for a free mole check-up by La Roche-Posay.
As the summer unfolds, enjoy the beach, the water, the mountains, and the freedom. Let Bukovel handle the memories, and let La Roche-Posay take care of your skin protection.
