Healing in motion: How Bukovel supports recovery through adventure

Skiing That Helps You Find Yourself Again

This winter, Bukovel became more than just a ski resort – it turned into a place of strength, recovery, and inspiration for our brave defenders. Since January 2024, Bukovel has been offering an adaptive skiing program, allowing war veterans to once again experience the thrill of the slopes.

Currently available:

  • 7 sit-ski units;
  • 6 sets of adaptive poles for conventional skiing.

The resort also hosted training sessions for national adaptive sports teams preparing for international competitions.

For many participants, it was about more than sport – it was about reclaiming confidence, joy in movement, and a renewed sense of control over body and life.

A Community of Strength and Recovery

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a major adaptive sports event brought together almost 300 veterans from across Ukraine. It marked another important step in the development of inclusive sports, with Bukovel proud to support the season's initiatives.

At the same time, Bukovel contributed to the creation of new outdoor adaptive workout zones, designed to help veterans and local residents regain strength and reconnect through physical activity. The first training ground is already operating, and several more are planned across the region, with hopes for further expansion.

These projects represent a long-term commitment to building accessible spaces for recovery, dignity, and community support.

Inclusive Recreation: Recharging in the Mountains

This winter, veterans and rehabilitation participants enjoyed a full range of activities at Bukovel – from adaptive skiing to visits to the aquapark, supported by complete organizational assistance including meals and logistics.

Water therapy is well-known for its healing benefits: it helps relax muscles, ease tension, and restore mobility.

“I was impressed by how thoughtful and inclusive everything was,” shares one of the participants. “Easy access, convenient layouts, adapted facilities – I could move freely and truly enjoy the experience.”

Bukovel’s newly-built aquapark MAVKA is designed to ensure every guest, regardless of physical ability, feels comfortable and welcomed – another important step toward a truly inclusive environment.

At Bukovel, strength is rebuilt. Here, recovery is part of the landscape, and the Carpathians offer a place where new beginnings are always possible.
