Bukovel going green: battery recycling now available

Bukovel has joined forces with a leading Ukrainian environmental movement, to launch a battery collection initiative as part of our Green Bukovel program.

A special drop-off box for batteries and small accumulators is now available at the Information Center near the panoramic lift. Once full, these batteries will be sent to licensed recycling facilities in the European Union – helping to keep toxic waste out of the Carpathian environment.

Why does it matter?

Batteries are small but dangerous. Each one contains heavy metals and toxic chemicals that can contaminate soil, water, and air if improperly disposed of. Shockingly, a single AA battery can pollute up to 16 m² of land or 400 liters of water.

Recycling them isn’t just a choice – it’s a way to protect the Carpathians and future generations.

How to take part?

It’s simple. Bring your used batteries and drop them in the collection box at Bukovel’s central Information Center.

You can recycle:

  • AA, AAA, and button batteries.
  • rechargeable batteries.
  • used phone batteries.

“This partnership gives us confidence that harmful heavy metals won’t end up in our mountains,” says Bohdan Krasavtsev, Head of Bukovel’s Office of Sustainable Development. Our partners guarantees licensed EU recycling and provides full reports every time.”

Together, let’s make Bukovel greener and preserve the beauty of our Carpathians.
