Local unemployment rate drops to 2.4%

The Polianytsia community is experiencing a record-low unemployment rate of just 2.4%, largely thanks to the strong presence and influence of the Bukovel resort.

This figure comes from a recent resident survey conducted by the National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic," which explored how tourism affects the local economy and quality of life.

According to the findings:

  • 65.8% of residents are employed full-time;
  • 9.8% work part-time;
  • 8.6% are involved in seasonal jobs;
  • Fewer than 3% are students or retirees.

The research confirms that Bukovel plays a pivotal role in shaping the local economy. Overall, 74.4% of residents are engaged in tourism-related activities:

  • 10% in equipment rentals;
  • 10% in entertainment and catering (split equally);
  • A full 75% work in short-term guest accommodation.

Beyond employment, Bukovel is also making a positive impact on local sustainability efforts. Residents report noticeable improvements in environmental conditions, supported by infrastructure upgrades such as centralized wastewater systems, use of renewable energy, water-saving technologies, eco-certified products, and the expansion of electric mobility.

Survey responses show:

  • 54% believe Bukovel contributes positively to protecting local natural resources;
  • 25.6% assess the impact as neutral.

These numbers reflect growing trust in Bukovel’s sustainability strategy and its role as a responsible tourism leader in the region.

The full results of the study will be featured in Bukovel’s upcoming Sustainability Report, set to be released this autumn.

Earlier this year, Bukovel signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Polianytsia Territorial Community to strengthen their shared commitment to sustainable development.
