Lake of Youth became the first and only mountain lake in the world whose beach was awarded the prestigious Blue Flag distinction in 2026. In June, the Blue Flag banner was officially raised above the lake. Informational signs appeared in the ticket area, and a dedicated stand was installed featuring a map, the history of the lake and fascinating facts about this unique destination. Visitors can also discover that grass carp, trout and pike inhabit the reservoir, acting as natural filters that help maintain the lake's ecological balance.

Interesting facts about Lake of Youth

Fact 1: It is the largest artificial lake in Ukraine

Lake of Youth is a remarkable engineering project created in the heart of the Carpathians. The lake stretches for around 750 metres and reaches up to 140 metres in width, making it the largest artificial lake in the country.

Fact 2: Legendary springs are believed to give the lake its rejuvenating power

The lake is fed by mountain springs and, according to local legends, these waters possess healing properties and may even restore youth. Perhaps the secret of eternal youth is hidden somewhere beneath these mountain waters.

The lake's water is not only exceptionally clean but also crystal clear, allowing visitors to see the bottom at depths of up to eight metres. During the summer months, the water temperature reaches a pleasant 20–23°C, offering a much warmer swimming experience than most natural mountain lakes.

Fact 3: During winter, the lake becomes Bukovel's own "snow factory"

Lake of Youth is not only a summer paradise. In winter, it performs an essential function for the resort, providing water for the production of artificial snow across all Bukovel ski slopes. This allows the resort to maintain stable snow conditions throughout the season, regardless of changing weather patterns.
