Route: Svydovets ridge – Mt. Blyznytsia (1883 m) – village Kvasy
Length: 12 km
Elevation gain: 300 m
Complexity level: medium

A hike to Mt. Blyznytsia opens up the sight of boundless green meadows of Svydovets and continues along the panoramic route to the village of Kvasy. Geomorphologically, Svydovets belongs to the flysch zone of the Carpathians, but unlike the stony Gorgany, this massif features gentle ridgelines, alpine plateaus, and a scenic mix of glacial cirques and steep slopes. Shaped by deep erosion and remnants of ancient glaciers, the range forms a distinctive horseshoe-shaped ridge.

One of the highlights of the trail is Ivor, a high-altitude glacial lake nestled on the slope of Blyznytsia. Its calm, reflective surface, framed by mountain grasses and scree fields, makes it one of our region’s natural gems. Above the lake rises Mt. Zhandarm, where, in rocky, wind-swept spots, edelweiss bloom – a symbol of purity, strength, and courage.

This route is a memorable mix of mountains, traditions, and taste. From the Svydovets ridge, the trail leads you along a panoramic descent to the village, offering views of grazing sheep with jingling bells descending from their summer pastures. Here, you truly feel the spirit of highland life.

In Kvasy, you'll stop at the Burkut mineral spring, a naturally carbonated source with healing properties, known since the 18th century. Afterward, you'll visit and taste cheeses at the Rozenthal craft creamery, where every bite reflects a love for traditions and artisanal mastery.

The journey ends with a craft beer tasting, each brew named after the landmarks you've just explored – Zhandarm, Ivor, Blyznytsia – offering a tipsy aftertaste of the route you’ve walked.

Kvasy isn’t just the final destination – it’s a mountain village with a character of its own. Nestled in the Black Tysa valley, it is known for its healing springs, hospitality, and the authentic rhythm of life in the Carpathian foothills.
