In honour of World Environment Day, we’re sharing an overview of how Bukovel is evolving through the lens of sustainability.
“June 5 is more than just another date on the calendar. It's a reminder of the value of nature, its delicate balance, and our shared responsibility to protect it. It's an opportunity to reflect on our personal impact and take a step towards a more sustainable future—even something as simple as using a reusable cup for your morning coffee reduces single-use plastic,” says Bohdan Krasavtsev, Head of the Bukovel Office for Sustainable Development.
Protecting the clean air, pure waters, and biodiversity of the Carpathians is more than a duty – it’s the foundation of Bukovel’s sustainable vision.
Sustainability in Practice: Bukovel’s Initiatives
- Transition to LED lighting across the resort;
- Use of renewable energy sources: solar panels (0.6 MW) on the roof of Parking Lot #1, heat pumps at the MAVKA aquapark and resort hotels;
- Smart room temperature control through thermostats and heat-reflective panels;
- Motion sensor lighting in low-traffic areas;
- Energy-efficient boot dryers at rental shops;
- In-room signage that outlines hotel linen and towel reuse policies, helping reduce laundry frequency and conserve water and electricity;
- Installation of low-flow faucets and dual-flush toilets in hotels;
- Daily monitoring of drinking water quality and wastewater treatment;
- Water metering across hotels and resort infrastructure;
- Air quality monitoring through two sensors (located near the market and on Mt. Dovha);
- Shuttle service between the Tatariv railway station and Bukovel;
- Free intra-resort transportation via Bukovel Bus;
- Nearly 30 km of dedicated cycling lanes connecting our hotels and key locations, along with five rental shops with bicycles and e-scooters;
- Launch of the Green Mobility programme, including the installation of seven electric vehicle charging stations.
In spring 2025, 11 hotels and the NUMO restaurant in Bukovel received international Green Key certification, recognising their commitment to sustainable hospitality.
