Arrangements and other regulations

The festival is arranged in accordance with the current regulations.

The competition is divided into two stages, qualification and final.

The main stage of the competition has 8 20-minute rounds (for professionals) and 3 50-minute rounds (for amateurs).

The lake surface is divided into 20 sectors. After the sortation, sportsmen take their places in the sectors (2 anglers in each). After the sound signal anglers change their seats, taking their belongings and gear with them.

Only standard spinning rods with a single spoon-bait is allowed in the “Professional” format. In the “Amateur” format, only standard float rod with a single sport-class hook is allowed. The lure can be your own or provided by the competition staff.

The main fishing principle of the competition is “Catch and release”.

You can’t cast your tackle to the adjacent fishing sectors. If your lure or spoon-bait happened to be cast into a wrong sector (due to wind or other circumstances), you should immediately remove it. The maximum diversion range for a bait can’t exceed the half of a buffer zone.

While wrestling, you are allowed to force your fish into the adjacent sectors, though stepping into the adjacent terrestrial zone is prohibited.

Restrictions:

  • No touching the fish with hands. A fish caught shouldn’t touch the ground. In order to finalize the catch, nettle should be used;
  • No soft basis hooks (or assist hooks);
  • No trout mouches;
  • No fishing baits, including any artificial ones;
  • No fishing outside of the determined sector;
  • You can’t exchange your gear / receive any help and/or items from other  anglers or spectators;
  • Don’t forget your belongings and gear in the sector you leave;
  • Only sport-class hooks are allowed;
  • Only one hook per rod is allowed;
  • Smoking in the sectors is prohibited. You may smoke only in a specially designated area;
  • Alcohol is prohibited for the time of competition. Anglers with the signs of intoxication should be immediately disqualified.

Violations:

Those competitors who committed violations of the rules of the competition - can be disqualified by the Chief Referee.

All questionable situations should be resolved by the Organizing Committee and the Chief Referee.

Only rainbow trout species caught are taken into account as score points.

Catch conditions:

Is the case of a successful catch, anglers should inform the person in charge, who’s responsible for the count. Every fish caught should be fixed in the protocol and approved by referee’s signature.

A fish caught should remain in a nettle. It is strictly prohibited to put a fish on the ground. If a fish receives lethal wounds, it should be removed from the lake.

Calculating results:

For each victory in the sector, 3 points are awarded. In case of a draw, anglers in a sector receive 1.5 points each. For goalless draw – 1 point each. Loss – 0 points.

After 8 rounds, 8 anglers with the highest score proceed to the next round. In case of equal scoring, anglers with a better catch score (starting from round 8) have benefits.

The rules stated above - remain unchanged for the final rounds.

Quarterfinal pattern: 8 anglers face each other depending on their result in the previous round. 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5. In case of a draw, sportsman with a higher previous standing has benefits.

Semifinal pattern: 4 anglers face each other depending on their result in the previous round. 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3.

In case of a draw in the Grand Final round, additional 10-minute tiebreaks are scheduled. In a tiebreak, winner is determined only by quantity of fish caught. If sportsmen are still even, the one with the later catch wins.  The sector for the tiebreak may differ from the initial one, subject to choice of the Chief Referee.
