«HUTSUL LAND» ETHNO-PARK OPENS AUGUST 9TH
The "Hutsul Land" ethno-park tells the fascinating story of life and household of three different highlander ethnoses of the Ukrainian Carpathians: Hutsuly, Lemky and Boiky. This is a new and unique environment, which combines various recreation and entertainment at "Bukovel" resort.
On the occasion of opening, we'll provide free access to the complex for our guests on August 9th. At 2pm, a live act by a hutsulian folk band will start, followed by a theatrical performance.
One of the major available exhibits is skansen (an open-air ethnographic complex), notable for its interactive approach to guests. It features unique monuments of folk wooden architecture of the XIX-XX centuries, reassembled after transportation from the remote corners of the Ukrainian Carpathians. One of the most ancient ones is a house from Rozhanka village, Lviv region, dating from 1860-80, miraculously preserved thanks to the efforts of the last owner, Petro Bakhur.
Another extremely remarkable exhibit is a household previously owned by wealthy shepherds from the village of Vorokhta, dating from the late XIX century. The unique “grazhda” installation, an example of the traditional closed-type household, is a subject of our special pride. It's the place where one may craft their own tea mixture using herbs gathered manually from local meadows, chill near an authentic oven and touch the ancient household items of the highlanders. Centuries-old wooden houses, thoroughly recreated along with interiors, household items and pieces of folk art, create a unique atmosphere of the past, manifest the spirit of our ancient traditions.
The complex is literally loaded with activities and workshops. You may try grinding wheat with millstones, or craft a doormat using a real weaving machine, or watch how cheese is prepared at the manufacture and even participate in a Hutsulian wedding theatrical action! “Hutsul Land” also boats an interactive zoo, where native, exotic, wild animals and birds live almost in their natural habitat, which will sure delight both children and adults. Moreover, there’s a creative space, the zone dedicated exclusively to workshops where one may observe and learn folk crafts and techniques which are, sadly but true, on the verge of extinction.
Art connoisseurs will surely enjoy their visit to "Skrynia" art gallery and the Ukrainian cinema club showcasing some world-famous movie stars, while those who’re in for a bit more carefree leisure will appreciate a wide array of traditional amusements.
The main mission of the installation is to preserve the decaying heritage and folk culture of the Ukrainian Carpathians, introduce our guests to the unique people’s legacy of our region.
More improvements and events are still to come: festivals, workshops, artists’ retreats, traditional celebrations of holidays and much, much more. This is just the beginning! Don’t miss it all!

Entry fees:
Standard – 90 UAH; Children under 6 – free; ATO veterans, pensioners, children aged 6-12 – 60 UAH.
