Russia's full-scale invasion caused significant losses to the Ukraine's sports infrastructure, limiting the opportunities for training athletes. In these perilous times, supporting sports becomes twice as important, because it is through the development of physical culture that the spirit is strengthened.
Having this in mind, Bukovel resort signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ski Federation of Ukraine. The Parties will contribute to the sustainable development of local communities around the resort, especially in the alpine skiing areas, mountain tourism, popularizing the active and healthy lifestyle.
One of the fields of our combined effort is creating a strategy to increase the popularity of the Ukrainian Carpathians as a mountain tourism, sports and active recreation destination. Cooperation with communities, businesses and entrepreneurs is also very important for establishing a sports-driven community and creating products that are of interest to tourists. Particular attention will be paid towards the development of programs aimed at people with disabilities and war veterans, creating rehabilitation centers and the supporting infrastructure.
Supporting sports is extremely important to Bukovel, being the primary wintersports location in Ukraine. Since 2006, the Ski Federation of Ukraine has hosted numerous international competitions at the resort, including the European and World Freestyle and Snowboarding Cups. These events elevated the resort to the international arena, as a major wintersports destination.
A number of competitions in snowboarding, freestyle and alpine skiing have been scheduled at Bukovel for the upcoming winter season.
