Supported by Bukovel, Strong Spiritʼs Games finals took place in Madrid
On October 11, the international competition for war veterans "Strong Spiritʼs Games" took place in Madrid as part of the annual sports festival "Arnold Classic Europe". Held by the Strongman Federation of Ukraine and supported by TC "Bukovel", this is the first competition aimed at empowering veterans through sports and social adaptation.
80 veteran athletes took part, representing Ukraine, the United States of America, Estonia, Ireland and the Netherlands, and competing in 5 different disciplines, including bench press, rowing on simulators, weightlifting and airbike.
"This year we hed a series of competitions in our country's different regions, involving more than 1500 veteran athletes. On September 14, the national selection finals took place at Bukovel resort. Hence our national team was formed to represent Ukraine at the international level. We would like to thank our good partner Bukovel for supporting our voyage to Spain, as well as hosting the national selection. Hopefully, our joint efforts for such an important initiative will become a good tradition", said the president of the Strongman Federation, Serhii Koniushok.
The national team of Ukraine confidently won the competition. The second place was taken by military veterans from the USA, and the bronze cup was claimed by athletes from Estonia.
Veteran competitor Mykhailo "Sever" Drobotenko had this to say: "Sports are pivotal in order to prepare veterans both physically and psychologically for future victories. It is crucial for resocializing: training with the community of like-minded people is what gets us through difficult moments, helping us to move forward".
We at Bukovel are extremely proud to be a part of this story. The event is an example of a prominent social initiative held to express gratitude and respect to our brave defenders.
