ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST'S DAY

6 JULY 2019

Mysterious and full of life, Ivana Kupala (St. John the Baptist's Day) is considered to be the most ancient summer holiday in Ukraine. According to a legend, the elusive Fem Flower reveals its blossom on this midsummer night. Flower so rare, almost unreal, it's capable of giving wisdom and ultimate knowledge of the World, healing wounds, helping find treasures and providing aid in love affairs.

What will happen is a huge folk-influenced celebration with singing, live music, dancing, courtship, flirting, guessing and chanting.

At 7pm, an open-air handicrafts workshop will start, followed by themed competitions and live acts by the region’s most talented singers.

At 10pm, the “Fern Flower” theatrical act will help you immerse deeper into the mysterious atmosphere of the holiday.

The undying tradition of lighting up the festive bale-fire and burning down a symbolic scarecrow – Marena, will be followed by a traditional Ukrainian discotheque.

And let miracles happen on this fairy night, may you find the magic Fern Flower in the mountains and be happy!

The summer night extravaganza is scheduled to start on July 6th, at 7pm, near the small Bukovel lake.

Welcome to “Bukovel”, the Heart of the Carpathians!
