MAD HEADS LIVE ACT

7 MARCH 2020

Mad Heads is a Ukrainian rockabilly music band, originated in Kyiv in 1991. In 2004, the band was rebooted as Mad Heads XL, with a slight predominance of ska-punk in their repertoire. Inspired by Balkan bands, they have been experimenting with folk songs, combining various genres, mainly rockabilly and psychobilly. Their debut album, "Psycholula", was released in Germany in 1996 by "Crazy Love Records" music label. Back then, Mad Heads XL boasted a huge recognition in Ukraine: they appeared on TV, sounded on the radio, newspapers and magazines wrote a lot about them. The band’s first video clips had huge support on national television.

"Psycholula" was followed by two LP’s: "Mad In Ukraine" (1998) and "Naked Flame" (2002). These albums earned the band recognition as Eastern Europe’s finest psychobilly band. Undoubtedly, they were at the time among the most prominent psycho-bands worldwide. In Ukraine, they became rock and roll legends. In 2003, the band released their forth album, entitled "Contact".

In 2017, Vadym Krasnookyi, the band's frontman, moved to Canada and formed there a band entitled "Mad Heads CA". Meanwhile in Ukraine, Vadym's fellow band members refused to cease their activities, thus decided to continue performing as "Mad Heads UA" and made a forced replacement, appointing Kirill Tkachenko as a new vocalist. Thereby, since 2017, the well-known music brand persists as two independent installments: "Mad Heads UA" and "Mad Heads CA".
