Verkhovyna (Polish name – Zhabie) is one of the region's most ancient mountain villages. The first written mention dates back to 1424. Located at an altitude of 620 m above the sea level, Verkhovyna resides on the banks of the river Chornyi Cheremosh and has several remote farms and households.
